2017 was our second CAIS event production and a much larger marketing production than 2016. International advertising and promotion was greatly increased with MM supporting business development trips to various US cities, and executing an international advertising campaign that was featured in the world’s top financial publications including the front page of the London Financial Times.

The 2017 event theme was ‘Defying Gravity: The future of alternative investments in exceptional times’. We took the instruction to interpret ‘Defying gravity’ as connected to outer space, but kept it subtler than the overt use of space iconography and black/white space/stars style.

Introducing VR

The idea for the sponsor and delegate gift in 2017 was to incorporate relatively new VR headset technology. We custom printed on Google Cardboard headsets and shipped direct to delegates with instructions of how to turn their phone into a VR machine. Delegates were given access to a conference URL that contained two VR compatible videos – one with a space scene and another with a tropical beach. This proved to be a very popular and interactive gift item that was still being talked about during the conference, up to months after some received.
